Comparing the Logic of EU Reporting

Transnational analysis of EU correspondence from Brussels
2007; 35 Seiten(DIN A4); Sprache: EN
ISBN 978-3-89733-170-9

The present report follows the lead of the latter and analyses how EU correspondents accredited to Brussels make sense of the inner workings of the EU institutions and how they aim to process EU information into news to serve their audiences.
The analysis is based on 142 journalist interviews conducted by eleven national research teams in the spring of 2006. The conduct of interviews in all countries was based on the same guidelines and an indicative list of questions agreed on by the consortium. All interviews were analysed based on the same research questions and reported in accordance with the same structure. Given that all interviews were carried out in the mother tongue of the respective journalists, the interviews were analysed and reported by the national research teams. This transnational report builds on the reports written by the national research teams as well as additional discussions during the writing process, which has taken more than a year to complete.
